Christmas

Students from Pablo Neruda School, like every year, have organized a Christmas card award. This year, we wanted to connect our prize  to the Erasmus+ project "High Five for Nature!" by choosing environmental care as the topic for the Christmas cards.

3 RS RULES

The 3Rs of waste management is an initiative that was developed in the early 2000s as a method that helps all of us to reduce the amount of waste we send to landfill or incineration, and to reduce the amount of items being produced unnecessarily. The 3Rs stand for Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

Reduce the consumption of direct products (what is purchased and consumed) since this has a direct relationship with the waste we generate. If we reduce soncumption, we reduce the impact on the environment.

Reuse means to use something again, withe for its original pupose or repurposed for a different task. By reusing, you prevent goods and materials froma entering the waste chain; and with this, you reduce the volume of garbage and generate less pollution.

Recycle means to convert waste into material that can be used to remake the item, or to make something else. However, we must remember that recycling wastes energy and pollutes during processing.

WORLD SOIL DAY

Celebrating the  World Soil Day  is important because it helps raising awareness among students about the vital role soil plays in sustaining life. It is an opportunity to foster a generation that values and protects the environment for a sustainable future.

Thanks to this day, we can achieve the following benefits:

  1. Environmental Awareness: Educates students about soil conservation, its importance in agriculture, and its role in combating climate change.
  2. Sustainability Education: Encourages responsible behavior towards natural resources and promotes sustainable practices.
  3. Scientific Learning: Provides hands-on learning opportunities about ecosystems, biodiversity, and the water cycle.
  4. Food Security Awareness: Helps students understand how healthy soil contributes to food production and global nutrition.
  5. Encourages Action: Inspires students to participate in soil-friendly activities like composting, tree planting, and reducing soil pollution.

By celebrating World Soil Day, schools can foster a generation that values and protects the environment for a sustainable future.
