Peace Day

On January 30th, to celebrate the International Day of Peace, we created a Peace Mural at Pablo Neruda School. We designed a dove using recycled materials such as bottle caps, cookies boxes, old newspapers, scraps of thread, and more.

Of course, we want peace in the world, but for this purpose, we need to be in peace with our planet.

The World Environmental Education Day

Today we celebrate the World environmental Education Day. It is important to celebrate this day in schools because it provides an opportunity to raise awareness among students about the urgency of caring for the environment and promoting positive change in society. Here are some key reasons:

  1. Early awareness: Students, being in a formative stage, have the chance to internalize environmental principles that can guide their decisions and attitudes throughout their lives.

  2. Development of skills and knowledge: It allows students to acquire practical tools and knowledge on how to protect the environment, from waste reduction to conservation of natural resources.

  3. Promotion of social responsibility: Celebrations like this reinforce the idea that we are all responsible for environmental issues and that our actions can contribute to solving them.

  4. Formation of critical and engaged citizens: Solid environmental education not only informs but also equips students to make informed decisions and become change leaders in their communities.

  5. Promotion of sustainability: The celebration raises awareness about the importance of living more sustainably, encouraging habits like recycling, energy efficiency, or responsible consumption, which has a positive impact both locally and globally.

In summary, celebrating this day in schools is an excellent way to integrate environmental awareness from an early age and prepare students to act as agents of change in protecting the planet.

CREATING TOYS FROM RECYCLED MATERIALS

Students have created toys and instruments using the recycled materials we have been collecting. To do this, heterogeneous groups were formed, allowing students with special educational needs to actively participate and contribute their artistic touch.

When all the creations were gathered, they were displayed in the schools for the enjoyment of the entire educational community.

It’s really easy: by using cardboard, bottle caps, and recycled containers, you can create anything you can imagine. You can not only make the toy of your dreams, but also have a great time while designing it.

The school garden

We are pleased to introduce you the garden of CEIP Pablo Neruda, which has been possible thanks to the collaboration of the parents' association and two grandparents who worked day after day to make our dream come true.

Throughout the school year, grandparents have been helping students to plant and take care of the garden. Do you like what we’ve planted?

To protect the harvest, two scarecrows have been made using recycled materials.

Since the entire educational community is highly committed to caring for the environment, flower pots have been created using recycled materials.

Finally, we want to highlight the great work done by a grandmother who has been knitting clothes for the school's trees.

Wall of wishes

As every new year, students from CEIP Pablo Neruda have been thinking about their new resolutions for 2025, as well as the wishes they have for our planet. Once written, we pasted them next to the genie of the magic lamp. Hopefully, together we can make our dreams come true!
